About TASC

Camp Director

The founder and director of TASC for Teens /
TASC Canadian Wilderness Fishing Camps is Paul Oesterreicher, a dedicated youth and outdoor recreation leader.  Paul’s love for the outdoors began as a child growing up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. He began his work in youth activities many years ago at Howard Air Force Base in the Panama Canal Zone while in the U.S. Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he continued his work with teenagers part time while working full time in the computer field.  In 1976, Paul formed Teen Weekend which later became TASC for Teens.  He began working full time with TASC in 1978.  Paul has led every TASC Canadian Wilderness Fishing Camp every summer since the first one in 1981.  His wife, Joanie, has assisted him at the camps since they were married, 29 years ago.  Besides their 3 children, Paul and Joanie took 45 foster children into their home during a 16 year period when they were licensed therapeutic foster parents.  They reside in rural Jeffersonton in Culpeper County, Virginia near the Blue Ridge Mountains.

What is TASC?

TASC Canadian Wilderness Fishing Camps is part of an outdoor adventure youth program that was established in 1976.  During the winter months, TASC (Travel Adventures, Skiing & Camps) organizes and leads ski and snowboard trips for elementary, middle and high school students. It even has a PSIA certified Ski & Snowboard School.  Every summer since 1981, TASC has conducted summer fishing camps for campers ages 10-17, to the Canadian Wilderness in Northern Ontario.  Through the years, thousands of young people from all over the world have experienced the excitement of TASC youth programs.

Quality Staff

Our staff are carefully chosen to compliment the TASC leadership, goals and high standards.  They are responsible, knowledgeable and very mature professionals in their varied fields, ranging from college age to the 70’s.  They choose to support our summer program because of their solid commitment to the youth of this generation and their desire to share their love of fishing and the outdoors with our campers.  Some of our staff also assist us with our winter ski and snowboard trip program for students and have been with us for many years. TASC has an excellent reputation and is well-known for the personal attention received by its campers.
